This is my space for writing about whatever I want. I suppose this will be my first journal entry. As I type these words into the Neocities html editor, it is Saturday. The date is 7/25/2026.
I spent some time today planning some upgrades to our garden and removing some yew trees that are in the way of the expansion. It's going to be a large project involving constructing several raised garden beds out of wood with posts that we can staple chickenwire or hardware cloth to for deterring the menace of deer and groundhogs. A young buck has been making himself a little too familiar in our garden space, chomping on everything. I don't mind sharing some of nature's bounty with the local fauna but the situation has been getting a little out of control.
Besides that, I've been re-learning html to create this website. I really like the idea of having my own personal web space that I can tinker with sans the corrupting influence of capitalism (advertisement, social media, AI slop, everything needing to be monetized). I read somewhere that there are now more bots on the internet than people. This does not surprised me in the least. I also would not be surprised if there is now more content produced by AI than by humans on the internet. Let's push back against this trend, force the 'AI bubble' to pop and watch our technofeudal lords seethe.
My studies lately have focused primarily on the Russian Revolution and the degeneration of the USSR from the world's first workers state to a capitalist oligarchy. I completed an excellent read by Leon Trotsky recently called "The Revolution Betrayed" that analyzes this subject in great detail. The more I learn the more I realize just how little I know. Perhaps I'll write a book report on it some day but this is not the time nor place for that. Currently, I'm doing research on the Hitler-Stalin pact (1939) to write a report / critique on a video posted by a leftist youtuber on the topic. I think this will be a great way to practice my writing and research skills and I'll definately be posting it to the site once it's done. Stay tuned for more, my fellow R-Biters.
